Yard Abrasive Blasting & Protective Coating

Pegara operates a purpose-built abrasive blasting and protective coatings facility located at 11 Chadwick Street, Wynberg, Sandton, strategically positioned to service Gauteng’s industrial, mining, commercial, and petrochemical sectors.

Yard Facility

The facility spans a 1,900 m² erf with 730 m² under roof, providing ample space for the safe handling, blasting, coating, and curing of structural steel, fabricated components, and industrial assets.

The under-roof area allows for controlled surface preparation and coating application, protecting works from weather exposure and ensuring consistent quality outcomes. By operating from a fixed, well-structured facility, Pegara is able to maintain strict quality control, documented QA, and traceable inspection records, supporting ISO 12944 corrosion protection systems and long-term asset performance.

Core Services

Abrasive Blasting

  • Surface preparation to SA 2, SA 2½, and SA 3 standards (ISO 8501-1) for structural steel, fabricated components, and industrial assets.

  • Controlled abrasive blasting to achieve correct surface cleanliness and anchor profile, forming the foundation for high-performance protective coating systems.

  • Yard-based and mobile blasting capabilities, allowing assets to be prepared either at our Wynberg facility or safely on-site for large or fixed structures.

  • Inspection-led blasting process, with surface condition verification prior to coating to ensure compliance with specification and long-term coating performance.

Protective Coatings

  • Anti-corrosion coating systems for structural steel in C3–C5 and CX environment
  • Epoxy coating systems for high-build corrosion protection and chemical resistance
  • Polyurethane (PU) topcoat systems for UV stability, colour retention, and weather resistance
  • Epoxy mastic systems for maintenance coatings where full SA 3 preparation is not practical
  • Zinc-rich primer systems (organic and inorganic) for cathodic corrosion protection
  • Chemical-resistant coatings for industrial plants, bund areas, and process equipment
  • Abrasion-resistant coatings for high-wear and impact-prone areas
  • Fire-protective / intumescent coating systems for structural steel (where specified)
  • Protective coating systems for marine and high-humidity environments
  • Multi-coat coating systems designed for long-term asset protection and lifecycle performance

  • Asset inspection and corrosion assessment.
  • Re-coating of existing systems and maintenance programs.
